What CartPulse does for you — in plain English

When a shopper visits your Shopify store, adds products to their cart, and then leaves without buying — that’s an abandoned cart. CartPulse watches for this automatically, then sends the customer gentle reminders (a browser notification and emails) to come back and finish their purchase. You don’t have to do anything after setup — it all runs on its own.

Set Up CartPulse in Minutes

Follow these steps once and CartPulse takes care of the rest automatically.

1
You do this

Install CartPulse from the Shopify App Store

Go to the Shopify App Store and click “Add app” on the CartPulse listing. You’ll be taken to your Shopify admin and asked to confirm the installation — just click “Install”.

That’s the only click you need. CartPulse will immediately connect to your store.

Tip: You must be logged into your Shopify admin account when installing. If you have multiple stores, make sure you’re on the right one.
2
Automatic

CartPulse connects to your store

Right after installation, CartPulse sets up a secure connection to your Shopify store. It registers itself to receive real-time signals — instant alerts that Shopify sends to CartPulse whenever something happens in your store.

CartPulse listens for three events:

  • Checkout started — a customer begins entering their details
  • Checkout updated — a customer adds or removes products
  • Order placed — a customer completes their purchase (so CartPulse knows the cart was recovered)
Note: No action is needed from you. This step happens automatically in seconds.
3
You do this

Your customers shop as normal

You don’t need to change anything about your store. CartPulse works silently in the background as your customers browse and shop.

The only requirement is that a customer must enter their email address at the checkout page before leaving. CartPulse can only send reminders if it has their email.

Good to know: CartPulse captures the customer’s name, email, the products they had in their cart, and the total value — everything needed for a personalised reminder.
4
Automatic

Abandoned carts are detected instantly

The moment a customer starts a checkout but doesn’t complete it, CartPulse captures the cart. It saves the customer’s email, the products they chose, and the total price.

You can see every captured cart in your Abandoned Carts page inside the CartPulse app — no refreshing needed, it updates in real time.

5
Automatic

Reminders are sent automatically

CartPulse sends a sequence of recovery messages to the customer — no action needed from you:

  • Browser push notification — a short pop-up on the customer’s device
  • First email reminder — a personalised email with the products they left behind and a direct link back
  • Final follow-up email — a “last chance” email to give one more nudge
Privacy: Customers can opt out of push notifications through their browser settings at any time.
6
Result

Revenue is recovered — you watch it happen

When a customer clicks a link in the reminder and completes their purchase, CartPulse automatically detects the new order and marks that cart as Recovered.

Your Dashboard updates with the latest stats — how many carts were abandoned, how many were recovered, your recovery rate, and total revenue regained. Everything is tracked for you.

Understanding Each Section

Here’s what you’ll find when you open CartPulse from your Shopify admin.

Dashboard — Your Recovery Overview

The first screen you see when you open CartPulse

The Dashboard gives you a quick summary of how your store is performing at recovering lost sales.

Total Abandoned Carts

How many customers started a checkout but didn’t finish. The bar chart shows this across the last 7 days.

Notifications Sent

Total number of push notifications and emails CartPulse has sent to bring customers back.

Recovery Rate

The percentage of abandoned carts successfully recovered. For example, 30% means 3 out of 10 customers came back to complete their purchase.

Smart Insight

A personalised tip based on your store’s data — how many carts were recovered and what you could do to improve further.

Abandoned Carts — The Full Cart List

A detailed table of every customer who left without buying

Each row is one customer. Here’s what each column means:

Customer

The email address of the shopper. If they didn’t enter an email, it shows as “Guest”.

Products

The names of the items they had in their cart when they left.

Total

The value of everything in their cart — the potential revenue you could recover from this customer.

Notifications

How many reminders have been sent to this customer so far (push + emails combined).

Status — Abandoned or Recovered

Abandoned (yellow) means the customer hasn’t completed their purchase yet. Recovered (green) means they came back and bought — success!

Reports — Product Abandonment Analysis

Understand which products are being left behind most often

The Reports page shows you which specific products appear most often in abandoned carts — useful for understanding pricing, photos, or description issues.

Top Abandoned Products

A ranked list of your products, from most to least frequently abandoned. The #1 product is left behind most often — worth reviewing why.

Date Range Filter

Switch between Last 7 days, Last 30 days, or All time to see how abandonment trends change.

Export to CSV

Download your full abandonment report as a spreadsheet. Great for sharing with your team or deeper analysis in Excel or Google Sheets.

When Customers Get Notified

CartPulse sends a sequence of reminders after a cart is abandoned. Here’s the exact timeline.

Moment of abandonment

Cart Captured

CartPulse detects the abandoned checkout and saves the customer’s details and cart contents instantly.

Shortly after

Browser Push Notification

A push notification appears on the customer’s phone or desktop — a quick, gentle nudge while the purchase is still fresh in their mind.

1st reminder

First Recovery Email — “Did you forget something?”

A personalised email showing the customer exactly which products they left behind, the total value, and a direct button to return to their cart.

Final reminder

Final Email — “Last chance! Your cart is about to expire”

A final follow-up email creates urgency, reminding the customer that their saved cart won’t last forever — one last opportunity to complete the purchase.

What happens when the customer buys?

If the customer completes their order at any point after receiving reminders, CartPulse automatically detects the new order and marks their cart as Recovered. The recovery is counted in your dashboard stats and any unsent reminders are cancelled.

Get the Most from CartPulse

Simple things you can do to maximise your recovery rate.

Make sure your checkout asks for email first

CartPulse can only send reminders if it has the customer’s email. Shopify’s default checkout collects email at the start — don’t change that order.

Check your Reports weekly

If the same product keeps appearing at the top of abandoned carts, that’s a signal. Review that product’s price, photos, and description.

Track your recovery rate trend

A healthy recovery rate is usually between 5% and 20%. If yours is lower, the most common cause is customers not entering their email before leaving.

Push notifications need opt-in

Customers must allow push notifications in their browser. If a customer declines, only email reminders will be sent — which is still effective.

Use the date filter in Reports

After running a sale or promotion, switch the Reports filter to “Last 7 days” to see which products had the most abandoned carts during that period.

Switch the app language if needed

CartPulse supports English, Spanish, French, Italian, and Dutch. Use the language switcher in the top right of the app.

Common Questions

Answers to the questions merchants ask most often.

?
Do I need to do anything after installing CartPulse?
No. After installation, CartPulse sets itself up and starts monitoring your store automatically. The only thing you need to do is check your Dashboard occasionally to review performance.
?
Will CartPulse slow down my Shopify store?
No. CartPulse works entirely in the background on our own servers. It receives data from Shopify after events happen, so it has zero impact on your store’s loading speed or customer experience.
?
What if a customer placed an order but still shows as “Abandoned”?
This can occasionally happen if the order webhook arrives with a slight delay. Wait a few minutes and refresh the Abandoned Carts page — it should update. If it doesn’t change after 10 minutes, contact us at apps.kaswebtech@gmail.com.
?
Can customers unsubscribe from the emails?
Yes. Customers can reply to any recovery email asking to be removed, or contact you directly as the merchant. For push notifications, customers can disable them any time through their browser settings.
?
Is my customer data safe?
Yes. CartPulse only stores the data needed to send recovery reminders (email, name, cart contents). All data is transmitted over HTTPS. When you uninstall CartPulse, all your store’s data is automatically deleted within 48 hours. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
?
What happens when I uninstall CartPulse?
All your store’s data — abandoned cart records, customer emails, notification logs, and access tokens — is automatically deleted from our systems within 48 hours of uninstallation.
?
How do I export my abandonment data?
Go to the Reports page inside the CartPulse app and click the Export CSV button in the top right. This downloads a spreadsheet with all abandoned product data for the selected time period.
?
My cart count is 0 — is something wrong?
Not necessarily. If you just installed CartPulse, it will start capturing carts as soon as the next customer starts a checkout. CartPulse cannot see carts that were abandoned before it was installed. Give it a few hours of normal store traffic and you should start seeing data appear.
